My Patch 5.2 Prep To Do List

Thanks to Bashiok, we now have a pretty good idea when Patch 5.2 will be released. His blog post from the 11th said they expected the patch to be released on the 26th of this month. This post will not be going into the many ‘too soon’ posts, or even addressing those who seem to think that Blizz isn’t giving us enough notice of patches ‘these days’, because really, they have very rarely ever given us advanced notice of a patch launch. No, this article is going to be all about how I am preparing for the new patch.

Making the Warcraft Movie Awesome

The Warcraft community is all abuzz with news that the Warcraft movie, announced at Blizzcon back in 2006, once again has a director. The movie has had many ups and downs. some of the perceived downs likely resulting from the fact Blizzard announced the movie to the massive audience of World of Warcraft players, which peaked at over 12 million players. Many of the players don’t understand how long it can take to get a movie from the ‘let’s do this’ step to the finished on screen product.

Blizzard decides to not down convert valor in 5.2

Blizzard Community Manager Zarhym(@CM_Zarhym) announced today that the developers have reconsidered their common practice of down converting the valor points to justice points, which was planned once again for the 5.2 patch. Veggie Economics

Each expansion has items that are in high demand. Flasks, potions, ores, bars, leather, or other crafting materials are fairly common in demand items on the auction house. Anyone who has looked at the auction house during Mists will be able to tell you some of the higher priced materials are Golden Lotus and Living Steel. When someone wants to play in the auction house to try and make money, they often look to those higher priced items for their profit seeking, but I aim for markets that are not as high yield.

Considering the Fate of Garrosh Hellscream

Ending Garrosh Hellscream
Garrosh Hellscream has had many different faces in the history of Warcraft lore. The earliest mention of him in the lore timeline was as a sickly child in Garadar during the book Beyond the Dark Portal by Christie golden and where he was visited by Kargath Bladefist who had returned from the defeat on Azeroth, and sought out new warriors for the Horde in a planned new attack on Azeroth.

Caging Azeroth – Special Circumstance Captures

Battle Pets. Pokewow. Whatever you call this new minigame within World of Warcraft, there has been numerous sites and resources launched in concert with this new feature which launched with the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Not only do we have the usual pets we see in the world, but there are special pets that require certain circumstances to even spawn, never mind capture. Today I am going to highlight a few pets that require special circumstances to be able to battle them.

Varian is MY King

This article is my response to posts on WoW Insider by both Matthew Rossi and Anne Stickney with their respective pieces “Hellscream is my Warchief” and “Hellscream is not my Warchief“. Both articles are very well written and very much worth reading. I also recommend looking at the connected piece “Bloody-handed in Dalaran” also by Matthew Rossi, where he looks at the Operation Shieldwall quests from the perspective of his Worgen.

Varian Wrynn is a king who has had many faces in the history of WoW. He was only first seen in the throne room at the start of Wrath of the Lich King, but those who knew where to look could find him on Alcaz Island just off the shore of Dustwallow Marsh in vanilla WoW, unconscious in a prison. Since his appearance, we have seen different sides of him, in game and in additional materials. The Warcraft comic detailed what has happened to him, and explained in decent detail why he had the personality he had for two expansions. I will recommend you check that out for your own research.
