Medros’ Blizzcon Schedule

Hello folks,

Since a few other folks are posting up their itinerary for Blizzcon week, I figured I would do the sAMe.

Tuesday November 5th

  • Land in Anaheim roughly 3 PM
  • Hit some stores and an in-and-out burger for some food
  • Check in at the hotel and relax checking out all the cool stuff waiting from the Blizzcon online sale
  • If time and energy allows, go to Medieval Times for 7:00 PM show
  • Relax the rest of the night

Wednesday November 6th

  • Disneyland

Thursday November 7th

  • Wake up, grab breakfast at my hotel
  • Wander around the local hotels, meeting up with folks as they arrive
  • 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM heading to the Hilton for a meeting
  • 4:30 PM badge pick up, then back to the hotel to snap shot everything
  • 5:30 or 6 PM Head to the Annabella for the WoW Insider/WoW Head meetup
  • 8:30-ish venture over to the World of Podcasts meetup
  • Midnight-ish Head back to the hotel to sleep

Friday November 8th

  • 5:30 AM Dawnforge breakfast (5:30 AM at Denny’s on S Harbor and W Orangewood)
  • Get in line early for entrance
  • The Con!
    • Opening Ceremonies 11:00 – 11:45 AM Main Stage
    • WoW What’s Next 12:30 – 2:00 PM Main Stage
    • WoW The Adventure Continues 2:30PM – 3:30 PM Panel Stage
    • Art of WoW 3:45 – 4:45 Panel Stage
    • Diablo 3 Lore and Story Q&A 5:00PM – 6:00PM Panel Stage
  • 7 PM head to House of Blues Anaheim for the New Egg party
  • 8:00 PM TNB meetup at Bowlmore Lanes at Anaheim GardenWalk
  • Sometime – Bed

Saturday November 9th

  • The Con!
    • Evolving Sounds of Warcraft 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Panel Stage
    • Diablo 3: Gameplay Systems and Crusader 11:15 – 12:15 Panel Stage
    • Warcraft Movie presentation 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Main Stage
    • World of Warcraft 2:30 – 3:30 PM Main Stage
    • Meeting Stone 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Finding a bar 6:30 – sleep

Sunday November 10th

  • Dawnforge Breakfast 8:00 AM Location TBD
  • Take off from Anaheim 2:30 PM

Note that Sunday’s breakfast will include prize giveaways including copies of Vol’Jin: Shadows of the Horde, Wolfheart, Bloodsworn, a Mega Bloks Spectral Tiger set, the Diablo 3 Hard Cover guide, a Mists of Pandaria Collector’s Edition, and more. Drawing will be held at 10:00 AM, and you must be there to win. Entries will come via finding Dawnforge staff around the Con and getting stickers or magnets, as well as attending the breakfast events. Hope to see you there!

Review: Book of Tyrael

First, let me thank Blizzard for sending me a review copy of Book of Tyrael. If you have read the Book of Cain, this book and it’s format will be a very familiar sight to you. Laid out very similarly to the Book of Cain, this is essentially Tyrael taking over where Deckard Cain left off, and updating the story to cover the events of the story in Diablo 3. The book also prepares us for the Reaper of Souls expansion with information about the Crusaders, and what I can only assume are the key figures in that addition to the franchise.

The book itself is very well written, and whoever did the first person perspective for Tyrael did a good job of capturing the view of the now mortal Archangel of Justice, and his newly enlightened thoughts on the High Heavens, the mortal Nephalem, and the Burning Hells. This book is a really interesting read, and if you are as excited about Reaper of Souls as many of the Dawnforge staff, including the Shattered Soulstone folks, are, then this is a great book to add to your collection of works from Sanctuary.

This book is a bit longer than Book of Cain, and with less in the way of creature art, so there is a fair bit more content to digest in this work. With portions of the book written from the perspectives of Deckard Cain and Leah, including notes in the columns like you find in any good adventurer’s resource, this is a really entertaining book to flip through, even if you are only reading the notes added by later authors.

While not the novels most would like, Book of Tyrael is a fun resource for finding out more lore from the world of Sanctuary, and helps give you a good start on stuff we are likely to see coming in the next expansion for Diablo 3. I am definitely happy I gave this a read.

The Virtual Predictions Contest!

Thanks to the generosity of the folks at Blizzard, All Things Azeroth was given 2 Blizzcon Virtual Ticket codes to give away. We gave one away tonight on the live show to a random listener, and we have a second to give away via this contest. Here’s what you need to do.

Send an email by 11:59 pm CDT on Sunday, November 3rd to contest@allthingsazeroth.com with the subject line “Virtual Predictions”, and include at least 3 predictions of what will be announced for 3 different titles at Blizzcon. Your choices of titles are: Diablo, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Hearthstone, Titan, and Heroes of the Storm.

Accuracy is not factor in winning, only that you enter with the subject line, and the predictions to the right email. On episode 370, we will announce one winner who will win both the Virtual Ticket code, which will be emailed out right after the show, and their choice of either an epic lanyard, or a Reaper of Souls lanyard, which will be mailed out to the winner post Blizzcon.

Reminder for those going to the con, you will get access via the code in your goodie bag, so no need to enter if you were planning to use it for yourself. Don’t forget to watch the live streaming coverage of Blizzcon hosted by Emma and Degei starting 10 am PST on Friday the 8th!

Donation Drive Round 4 – Signed MoP CE

Today I am launching the next round of the donation drives, the final round, for a signed Mists of Pandaria Collector’s Edition. There are a few things to note on this one. First, the winner will have the chance to hold off on the shipment until after Blizzcon, where we will do our best to get as many additional signatures as we can. Currently the CE is signed by Samwise Didier, Glenn Rane, and John Polidora. For the winner, the prize will include shipping anywhere in North America, or delivery at Blizzcon if the winner is attending. If someone outside of North America wins the prize, they would need to cover shipping beyond the estimated $30 cost for North American shipping.
