KYR – March 1st, 2006

Was a decent show tonight, with a few pieces of news. The site I mentioned tonight with loads of lore surrounding Azeroth is Warcraft at Lunar Falls, a site I found through the Shadow Walkers site, while the mod I mentioned is Ephemeral, a good mod to enrich your RP. I mentioned the new Warcraft book, Cycle of Hatred, which seems like a good book based on the first chapter, which can be found on the author’s website. Yes, there is more there than the Blizzard posted excerpt.
I also mentioned the latest posting of a Penny Arcade comic from the user guide, the new Atlas pack, the new volume in the Sunwell Trilogy, mentioned in relation to Richard Knaak being at TokyoPop, and a WoW themed cake a fan made. I went a bit into the new Events calendar that Blizzard have made, which makes it a lot easier for those who wish to plan their RP around the events scheduled by Blizzard. As always, I went through the latest Warcraft Weekly post, and pulled out some tidbits that were of interest to me. Eyonix, the lovable black whelp, posted a thread that gave Paladins a few things we can look forward to in the next patch, even bothering to respond about a known bug.
Then, after doing so well to start, he makes what I consider to be an asinine comment about tanks not needing a taunt like ability in a separate thread. He does, though, clarify something about 1.10 changes he mentioned in the prior thread. Lastly, there was a post in the threads with very little information in it, other than to say not even a month after Blizz warns about a rebate scam, that there is an actual rebate being offered, though no information on the rebate is given.

KYR February 22

Today was one of the best shows I have had of late, and not only cause I got my new Plantronics Audio 100, but because two friends from Argent Dawn joined me to talk about several events of the past week on Argent Dawn. Ciarda, known in MMO IRC as KatanaAngel, and Silvarius, of the Shadow Walkers, joined me on the air to talk about the wedding of my character Medros and Ciarda, and to talk about the opening of the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj. Here’s screens from Ciarda’s perspective. Isn’t that a pretty kitty she’s riding? It was a great discussion, which included input from the listeners on the topic of in game marriage, and the dangers of RP relationships when they go too far from one perspective or another.
Some of the news I mentioned is the new Murloc lore we have, and the rather extensive Flintlocke’s Guide to Azeroth over on GameSpy. On the front page of the WoW site, they have a link to their ‘Über Chat Guide‘. though I am not sure if it is new, or just something they thought was overly required for the citizens of Azeroth.
One last link, as I am not sure I talked about it last week or not, but Blizz brought out a new Character Creation Management System, which disables new character creation on any realm with an active queue unless you have a character made there already. This, I hope, will begin to discourage people from flooding AD with new characters for the hell of it. If you want to RP, I welcome you to Argent Dawn. Otherwise, feel free to join myself and a few others on our other servers.
Be sure to tune back next week for more Know Your Role on MMO Radio, Where Gamers ROCK!

Closed RP announcement

Medros and Ciarda walk into the Pig and Whistle, her arm in his, and they walk to the front of the table. As they walk the length of the table, the conversation of those in attendance begins to dwindle down, until it is quiet when they arrive at the front of the room. Two chairs are there waiting for them. Medros helps Ciarda onto one of them, her Black Dress looking lovely in the light of the inn, and then he steps up onto the other.
She reaches her hand out, and takes Medros’ hand in hers. He looks to her, and smiles, then turns to the crowd.
“We have an announcement to make.” Medros says loudly to the crowd.
“Medros and I have told you all previously about our engagement. We would like to now invite you all to the wedding.” Ciarda says, as loud as her voice can get.
“This coming Saturday, in a ceremony officiated by Mirrienna and held in the Cathedral of the Light here in Stormwind, Ciarda and I will be wed.” Medros declares, which is followed by applause.
“The ceremony will be a celebration of the alliance, and the Light by which my love follows so devoutly,” Ciarda says when the applause dies down. “Medros’ Best Man will be Master Vandrahga Darksong, master of the Shadow Walkers. My Maiden of honor will be Lady Tiea Windtalker, also of the Shadow Walkers.”
“Following the ceremony, there will be a celebration with another form of light, the light of fireworks and rockets, on the steps of the Cathedral. The procession will continue to the Blue Recluse in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind for the formal reception, followed by drinks here at the Pig and Whistle in Old Town, also in Stormwind.” Medros announces.
“We hope you will all join us in this wondrous and amazing day.” Ciarda says as loud as she can.
Medros steps down, then helps Ciarda down off her chair, as they begin to walk through the crowd to loud cheers and congratulations.
We do hope many, if not all of you can join us for our wedding This coming Saturday, February 18th. We do ask druids to arrive and maintain their natural elven or tauren forms. Also, we ask all hunters to keep their pets stabled. Thank you for your time, and thank you in advance for your attendance.

KYR February 15

Today was a better show than I had expected based on the hardware I was working with. A good deal of news, and an RP announcement to make made for a great show all around. I read the post Playing WoW is like playing the Lottery, recommended the simple Azzor.com MC guide, and encouraged everyone to go play a little WoW trivia, though I do wish they would tell you what the right answer was if you get it wrong.
I talked a little about the many Azerothian festivals and events we had going on over on Argent Dawn this past week, with the Love is in the Air, Darkmoon Faire, and Lunar Festival all going on simultaneously, as well as the Ahn’Qiraj War Effort still in full force. This made for lag filled and virtually unplayable cities, but it was still a lot of fun. For those in the RP realms, the myriad and multitude of events this week lent themselves amazingly to the desire to expand ones RP. You could go from one to the other, and never leave your RP ‘zone’. It was a blast, even if the lag was occasionally hard to deal with.
Some of the posts I couldn’t get into the show this week, but which deserve mentioning are Xarantaur’s Lore Q&A and also Chapter II of the same thread, and a long and plentiful list of awesome mods for RPers. I plan to take a deeper look at both over the next few days, add some mods to what I use, and make use of the lore in that thread. Definitely some must read threads on the WoW forums.
As for the war effort, this coming weekend we expect to see the gates opened on Argent Dawn, so I will be sure to report on that next week on Know Your Role.

KYR – January 25

Hey all, sorry so long since my posts. I wanted to toss you all the links to the mods I mentioned tonight. Vendrahga’s CFLEnable automatically turns on your chat logging in World of Warcraft. If you take a look at your log file, you will possibly see a lot of garbage from various mods that use hidden chat channels to communicate between users. FlagRSP, a mod for RPers, is really bad for this. A good solution for this is WoWLogParser, which parses your log file and allows you to save sections out by channel, such as Guild, Party, Say, and more.
Between these different mods, you can easily record events and discussion in World of Warcraft. Enjoy.
Update: I have now uploaded the interview I did with Albatros on the most recent Know Your Role. Hope you all enjoy. If you want to leave voice mails about the interview, about the show, about my podcast, or anything else, skype me or call me at (240) 764-4763. Enjoy!

Know Your Role for December 15, 2005

Todays show was a fun one, with me ranting a bit, and with some contests. The contests were a form of Azerothian Hide and go Seek. The first time I was hiding on a balcony in Ironforge, where Dev from IRC was the first to find me and tell me the name of my sword, and no, ‘Big razor on a stick’, though very descriptive, did not count. The correct answer was one of these, though Dev declined reward, the second place person had logged out, and Ciarda, the third place person, also declined reward.
The second contest was another hide and go seek, though this time I was in a far more complicated location, Darnassus. It was nearly the end of the show before someone found me, and this time they had to name the cloak I was wearing, and the color of it. The first person to find me, Keladine, had disconnected before being able to tell me the answer, and the second and third came back as the first showed back up. Ciarda, also known as Katana Angel in MMO IRC, was the first to answer the two required parts, while Enroth did arrive before Ciarda, but got the answer to me last.
I was found in Darnassus, standing next to Jeen’ra Nightrunner, Hunter Trainer, and her pet Nightshade, high up in a tree, wearing my Cape of the Fire Salamander, which I got in a recent trip through Blackrock Depths to hit the Black Forge. The prizes were varied in choice, and the winners were picked in this order. Following their names is the prize they chose. Keladine – Smashing Star of the Tiger, Ciarda – 5 Gold Pieces, and Enroth – 10 Tender Wolf Steak. Congratulations to the winners, and be sure to tune in next Wednesday for another contest or two.
Stories I talked about are as follows:

Frappr Map

I have followed the hottest meme in podcasting, the Frappr Maps, and made one for the podcast. I also have one for my podcast, but if you are a WoW player and liusten to my talk show, I would encourage you to hop on over and put a pin in the map and let me, and the rest of the listeners, where the listeners are from.
